Hiking and Horseback Riding
In keeping with the goals of the reserve as well as our personal goals, the majority of the property will remain undeveloped. If you want to spend some time communing with nature or want some good healthy exercise, there are trails within the property.
Hiking
The most popular is to hike to the top of Cerro Apaguají. Where there is about 100 meters of elevation gain involved, it is not a difficult hike. From Apaguají, you will have an unobstructed view south to Lake Managua and beyond, to the volcanos along the Pacific coast and to the Gulf of Fonseca and El Salvador.
You are also welcome to hike through the farm and check out the fruit growing and the coffee. For the more adventurous, there is a stream that runs along the west side of the property below the oak forest.
Horses
For those who want to explore further, horses are available for rent. Besides exploring the trails within the property, you can ride to other parts of the Tisey reserve. We can provide you with a map (and a Spanish crib sheet in case you get lost) to do your own exploration. Or, you can rent a guide along with the horses who can show you around.
