Crops
All of our farm crops will be organically grown. What we don't want to do is compete with the organic farmers of our neighbor La Garnacha. Thus, we are calling our farming efforts an "experimental farm". What that means is that if a crop that can be grown in Tisey is available locally, we will buy and use it. On the other hand, we want to develop new crops that can be grown in the area.
To this end, we will try crops. If they are successful, we will try to get locals to grown them. We would rather be in the Eco-tourism business than large-scale farming.
In the sub-pages of this page, we talk about the various crops in the area. There will be a page for each crop and it will include pictures. If we are growing the crop, the page will indicate that. If not, many will be grown by one of our neighbors.
Some crops just can't be grown in our area. If that is the case but we feel it is worthy of a page, we will talk about it but point out that we have to get it from somewhere else. Where? Our first choice is always another part of Nicaragua.
